There’s nothing like being obsessed with a literal psychopath in a book. ![]() The constant push and pull between them is addictive. If anything I was even more intrigued by their dynamic. The chemistry, obsession, and darkness between them never let me lose interest. Killian and Glyndon are such a different couple than others I’ve read in the past. I had no clue what was going to happen and I just enjoyed the ride. I’ve never read a book so slow on purpose in my life, but there’s a first time for everything, right? This book had me questioning everything and everyone. From the beginning, to the end of this book, it kept me on my toes. The books are not told through one character, so you get the whole story of what is going on in this war as well as what happened thousands of years ago. Yet, the books are well written and with many likeable characters. ![]() This focuses on a boy named Pug (yes, I hate the name too), his story is one of the more unique ones in fantasy. ![]() There are few books out there as well written as these. It isn't as light hearted as say, Harry Potter, but the humor and characters make it a must read in my opinion. Yet, the characterization and humor of the story really sets it apart from most other Fantasy novels. The Belgariad follows a young boy named Garion, a standard prophecy story. Yes, I would like you to try to give a good accounting as to why you believe that the book (or series) is worth the reader's time. I am more interested in what books might have 'slipped between the cracks' of today's readers, yet are very good Fantasy books regardless. No 'omfg Harry Potter!' If you have not read Harry Potter, it is because you don't want too. Blake nerds out on details of the recording biz, making me think he has a real background there. ![]() Over the bundle, Blake takes Black to investigate a different part of the Hollywood economy-movies, rap, modeling, and reality TV/music competitions. This is a detective story with a graphic-novel sensibility. Don't confuse Black with classics like Dashiell Hammet, Agatha Christie, or Michael Conneley, and it makes for some light comedic LA-based detective reading. I listened to this box set, mostly because I was looking for some modern hard-boiled detective fiction and this was a lot of book for the price. ![]() |
